The city of Kobanê has been resisting the IS terrorists for over a month. While many observers have often proclaimed the victory of the Islamists, the fighters of the YPG / YPJ continue to defend the city at the risk of their lives.
Even though 150 Peshmerga fighters have now been allowed across the border, the situation is still difficult. After the IS terrorists have not been able to take the city so far, they are now doing everything possible to cause as much damage as possible and are shooting at Kobanê with heavy artillery.People seriously injured by IS attacks cannot be brought across the border because Turkey is still keeping it closed. At the same time, the Islamists are being treated in Turkish hospitals and can freely cross the border. Kurdish fighters from Rojava, on the other hand, face imprisonment in Turkey.
It quickly becomes clear that Kobanê is not just about a city, but about the achievements of the whole of Rojavas.
The alternative to the existing conditions created there is a problem in the eyes of the NATO partners, especially Turkey.
The model of society based on the model of Abdullah Öcalan’s “democratic confederalism” has met with resistance from the start.
In Germany, too, organizations that successfully fight IS are criminalized and persecuted. The Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK, which has been banned since 1993, saved the lives of thousands of Yezidis in the Shingal Mountains. In the FRG – also in Heilbronn – people are repeatedly threatened with house searches and attacks on their status as refugees because of alleged support for the PKK.
We no longer want to accept this state of intimidation and criminalization. That is why we take to the streets together to express our solidarity with the people in Rojava and especially in Kobanê and to send a clear signal against the ban on the PKK!
Solidarity with Kobanê! Away with the PKK Ban!
